With Business Travel Budgets Increasing, Loyalty Rewards Programs are an Important Savings Tool

By:
Date: November 5 2012

Plainview, NY (PRWEB) November 05, 2012
Business travel budgets are starting to see an increase, according to a recent survey by Wakefield Research on behalf of Best Western International. The survey found that 39 percent of business travelers have received an increase in their travel budget in the past year. Although budgets are starting to show an increase, businesses are continuing to look for ways to save money. According to OKT Corporate Travel Management, an agency that specializes in business travel services, one of the best ways to save is by joining a business rewards program offered by the airlines.

“Smart businesses are using a variety of methods to extend their dollars and save on travel costs. Cashing in on loyalty points, using travel consolidator fares and carrying on luggage to avoid baggage fees are just a few of the ways business travelers are saving,” said Orit Keren, president and CEO of OKT Corporate Travel Management. “Travel is the second biggest expense for businesses after payroll. At OKT we use strategic approaches and our inside connections to help businesses stay within or below their travel budget, while adding extra value to help make their travel experience more enjoyable.”

Using business loyalty rewards points earned through credit cards and travel programs is often a challenge to manage for businesses. OKT Corporate Travel Management specializes in helping businesses use their points for greatest savings.

“Accumulating reward points through credit cards and loyalty reward programs are simple ways businesses can save,” Keren said. “Where they often run into a challenge is with trying to redeem those points for the biggest savings. Our teams of experts help businesses manage the points they have and use them for employee travel.”
According to the Wakefield Research survey, 48 percent of business travelers sign up for rewards programs for free hotel stays, 45 percent for airline tickets and upgrades, 40 percent for hotel upgrades and 32 percent for discounts on food, gas and other travel staples.

If rewards points are not available for travel, another alternative OKT Corporate Travel Management uses to help clients save is through using consolidator fares.
“By using consolidator fares, clients are able to get deeply discounted prices from the lowest published fares available on both coach and business class,” Keren said. “We are always watching for the best pricing options and ways to help our clients save.”
