Benefit/Healthcare Cost Containment
The U.S. heath care spend has grown to almost 20% of the GDP, yet the overall health of our
nation continues to decline. We spend twice as much as any other country, yet have the lowest
life expectancies and the highest rate of obesity.
The overall cost of health care in the U.S. has increased by 63% over the past four years and by
87% over the past eight years. Corporate spending on health care is now escalating at 8%-14%
annually - three times the rate of inflation.
