HRAnswerLink Tackles Top Five Compliance Issues for Small and Mid-sized Businesses in Upcoming Webi

By:
Date: September 21 2011

PLEASANTON, Calif./Sept. 21, 2011 – HRAnswerLink, the premier provider of on-demand human resource compliance to over 44,000 small and mid-sized businesses nationwide, will host the webinar "The Five Compliance Areas Every Small and Mid-sized Business Must Get Right" from 10 to 11 a.m. Pacific time on Tuesday, October 4.

Thirty-four percent of small business owners have had a lawsuit filed against themselves or their company in the past 10 years.  A seemingly insignificant I-9 error can result in a fine of up to $1,100 and the risk of jail time. HR is fraught with compliance landmines that could financially devastate a small or mid-sized company.  The webinar will address the critical compliance areas of employment terminations, disability accommodations, reporting and record-keeping requirements, recent OSHA efforts, and current Department of Labor priorities and how companies can protect themselves by protecting their employees.

Steven Yee, SPHR, vice-president of HR operations for HRAnswerLink, will present the webinar.  With over 14 years in the field of human resources, Steven has worked for major organizations in various industries, including Kaiser Permanente, Monster Worldwide, and Time-Warner.  Currently, in his role at HRAnswerLink, he oversees the company's web-based HR content and consulting services.  With experience in diverse HR business disciplines, he particularly enjoys deciphering the complexities of employment laws and taking a consultative approach to help small to mid-sized companies successfully align their HR needs with their strategic business goals.

"The government doesn't take ignorance or staffing restrictions into account when handing out fines," said Yee.  "Small and mid-sized companies must get compliance issues right, and right from the start."
