Hiring Demand for Computer Programmers is up 26%: 220,000 New Jobs Posted Online in Past 30 Days

By:
Date: May 24 2011

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 24, 2011
With more than 220,000 new jobs posted online over the past 30 days, Computer Programmers are the most in-demand position, according to WANTED Analytics (http://www.wantedanalytics.com), the leading source of real-time business intelligence for the talent marketplace. This represents a 26% increase over the same time period in 2010.

Within Computer Programming, Computer Systems Analysts lead the hiring demand with 40,000 new job ads placed online over the past thirty days, a year-over-year increase of 24%. Other high-demand positions were Web Developers, with 32,000 new jobs posted in the past 30 days (a 21% increase from 2010) and Computer Software Engineers, with just over 28,000 new job ads placed (a 29% increase versus prior year).

New York City, Atlanta and Chicago are the top metropolitan areas that have been recruiting Computer Programmers over the past 30 days. New York City, the fastest hiring metro area, accounts for more than 9,000 Computer Programmer job ads over this time period.
Considering the growth in the number of positions recently made available, competition for this talent pool in New York City has remained low and recruiters will have a relatively easier time filling these openings than the US average, as measured by the Hiring Scale™.

The Hiring Scale measures conditions in local job markets by comparing hiring demand and labor supply. The Hiring Scale™ is part of the WANTED Analytics platform that offers business intelligence for the talent marketplace.
