FrED Announces Recipients of 2010 Leadership Awards

The 2010 FrED Leadership Award honorees are Good to Great author, Jim Collins, and Mimi Silbert, the founder & president of the world-renowned rehabilitation program, Delancey Street.

The FrED Leadership Awards will be presented at the 2010 FrED Forum, the annual ideas and action incubator exploring new thinking and solutions to leadership challenges, which runs from December 8-10, 2010 in San Francisco.

“The FrED Leadership Awards recognize and celebrate pioneers, thought leaders, and role models who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of leadership and leadership development,” said Jim Bolt, co-founder of FrED. “We are proud to honor Jim Collins and Mimi Silbert for their outstanding contributions,” added Bolt.

The FrED Forum is an invitation-only think-tank that has fast developed strong buzz in leadership and executive development circles. It features a unique combination of provocative thinking, out-of-the-box experiences, and opportunities to move from inspiration to action.

FrED is designed to inspire leaders, and people focused on developing them, to improve the quality of leadership across all areas of society – including business, not-for-profits, government, education, and the military. The sold-out 2010 gathering is limited to 60-attendees, up from 45 at last year’s inaugural FrED Forum in New York.

FrED gets its name from its original focus on the future of executive development, and has evolved to developing inspired, responsible leaders to lead in at a time of extraordinary volatility, uncertainty, and change.

“Everywhere you look, there’s a huge demand for smart people to bring fresh approaches to the world’s most vexing and serious problems,” said Alan Webber, co-founder of Fast Company magazine and key thought-partner in the evolution of FrED strategy. “FrED helps to meet that demand.” Webber, who is also the former managing editor of the Harvard Business Review, moderates the FrED Forum and will lead a discussion on social entrepreneurship at the 2010 session in San Francisco.

The 2009 FrED Leadership Award honorees were Frances Hesselbein, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Leader to Leader Institute (formerly the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management); and Warren Bennis, Distinguished Professor of Business Administration and Founding Chairman of the leadership Institute at the University of Southern California.
