RICHMOND, Va., April 3, 2012 — Working Mother magazine today named Bon Secours Virginia Health System one of the “Best Companies for Hourly Workers” for 2012, in recognition of its policies and programs that promote employees and that support a dynamic work-life culture. (A full list of Best Companies can be found on page 2.)
“Since the majority of our workforce is comprised of hourly workers, we are especially excited to be recognized for our efforts in supporting and engaging this incredibly important segment of our health system,” said Peter J. Bernard, CEO, Bon Secours Virginia. “Bon Secours’ hourly workers live our mission of good help every day and dedicate themselves to the care of others; it is only right that they be cared for in return.”
Bon Secours Virginia’s policies and programs that have contributed to the successful building of this award-winning culture are:
· Employee Wellness Services – free onsite health classes, education, screenings, caring for caregivers and exercise opportunities
· Good Health Clinic – onsite employee health clinic new in 2011 and expanding to more Bon Secours Virginia facilities later this year
· Dependent care – onsite and offsite child care, eldercare support, college scholarships for employees’ children and grandchildren, and summer camps and volunteering opportunities for employees’ children
· Education and development – tuition assistance for employees’ continuing education, free onsite and online personal and professional development courses, partnerships with
