The University’s Health and Wellness Strategy Honored with Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite Award
Minneapolis, MN: February 6, 2013 – Ceridian Corporation, a global provider of human capital management solutions announces Ball State, the historical research university in Indiana, has been honored with a Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite award from the American Heart Association. The Fit-Friendly Worksite award recognizes employers who champion employee health and strive to create a culture of physical activity and wellness in the workplace.
“We’re committed to offering healthy lifestyle choices and promoting a culture of well-being in the workplace,” says Rhonda Murr, director of health enhancement programs at Ball State University. “We believe that the key to the success of our wellness initiative is our focused dedication to creating a cultured work environment that emphasizes health and wellness for our employees, their families and our local community. We’ve partnered with Ceridian to provide our employees easy access to health and wellness tools, resources and support needed to remain healthy and productive both at work and at home.”
The university has several initiatives to help maintain and advance the health of employees such as on-site fitness facilities, chronic disease self-management classes, health-risk appraisals, biometric screenings and walking clubs.
In addition, more than 3,000 university employees are able to access Ceridian’s LifeWorks.com -- the information-rich website with tools and resources on everything from managing stress and dealing with depression and anxiety, to establishing healthy eating habits, financial management and parenting concerns. Through LifeWorks, Ball State employees have Health Coaching - a program that provides high-risk employees with access to comprehensive health assessments and personalized guidance programs aimed at encouraging positive behavioral changes.
“We are delighted Ball State is being recognized as a rising leader in wellness initiatives in higher education,” says Mary Jo Davis vice president, product management at Ceridian. “We’re proud to support the university in its commitment to provide healthy opportunities to employees.”
