MONTVALE, N.J., May 31, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- IMA(R), one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession, announces the launch of the IMA Leadership Academy.

Designed to help accounting and finance professionals enhance their leadership skills, the Academy will offer IMA members numerous resources, including a mentoring program; a monthly webinar series covering topics such as coaching, team building, conflict resolution, and talent management; and a leadership recognition system.

"Talent management and succession planning continue to be top concerns of CFOs and their organizations. The IMA Leadership Academy addresses the increasing need for organizations to develop in-house talent with skills beyond the traditional accounting function -- such as negotiation, influence and communication --with the goal of creating future leaders," said David J. Elrod, CMA(R), CPA, IMA Leadership Academy dean. "Through IMA's resources and professional network, we hope to encourage participants to strive for increasing leadership roles and deliver greater value to their organizations."

IMA's leadership experts also author a monthly leadership column in IMA's award-winning, flagship publication, Strategic Finance. To read "Becoming a Trusted Leader," by Mr. Elrod, visit: http://www.imanet.org/PDFs/Public/SF/2012_04/04_2012_leadership.pdf .

Though the Academy is only open to IMA members, nonmembers can still enjoy IMA's latest thought leadership by visiting the "In the News" section of IMA's website: http://www.imanet.org/about_ima/news/all_news.aspx .
