| Description |
Wiley and the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), the leading international association dedicated to improving productivity and performance in the workplace, have partnered to introduce a three-volume series reference library covering core topics of the growing fields of training and development, workplace learning, and individual and organizational performance improvement. The Handbook stands alone as a rigorous, evidence-based Body of Knowledge under the banner of ISPI’s “performance landscape,” and for the first time provides a unified and authoritative compendium of standard principles and best practices for improving productivity and performance in the workplace.
Featuring best-in-field researchers, thinkers, and practitioners across several disciplines and geographic boundaries, each volume provides a current review of all information presently available for the three core areas of improving performance in the workplace:
- Instructional Design and Training Delivery
- Intervention Selection and Implementation
- Measurement and Evaluation
Volume 1 editor Ken Silber shows how Instructional Design has moved from being a process to being a set of principles, the focus has moved concentrating on algorithmic problem solving and single concepts, to high-level problem solving and knowledge structures, the instructional strategy mix has grown, and the learning and research base on which the field is based has changed drastically..
Volume 2 editors Doug Leigh and Ryan Watkins provide both foundational knowledge on the identification and selection of valuable performance interventions, as well as useful guidelines for how to implement a variety of improvement activities within organizations.
Volume 3 editor Joan Dessinger presents a snapshot of workplace measurement and evaluation as they exist today and will focus on three challenges--assessing organizational readiness for measurement and evaluation; taking advantage of new technologies for "doing" measurement and evaluation; and finding the best path to follow at the 'moment of truth'--the moment when an ethical decision must be made.
John Wedman, Professor and Director of the School of Information Science & Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri, will lead the editors through a thought-provoking and constructive discussion of the New Landscape of Performance Improvement.
